Eastern Europe and Central Asia Space (EECA Region Space)
The Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) region is falling behind in its efforts to meet the targets to end AIDS by 2030. Factors such as restrictive laws, criminalization, stigma, discrimination, and gender inequality significantly hinder access to healthcare. Additionally, political resistance, anti-rights trends, a shrinking civil space, and the profound impact of russia’s war in Ukraine have exacerbated existing health issues and introduced new barriers, akin to a new “Berlin Wall” being constructed before our eyes.
In response to these challenges, key regional networks and other civil society organizations, community leaders and activists are coming together to showcase best practices, share successes and challenges, and call for coordinated actions with international, regional, and national partners to effectively address these new obstacles.

Join us at the AIDS 2024 Global Village – AD08 to be part of this crucial dialogue. Together, we can break down barriers and create lasting changes in the EECA region. Walls are not the answer. #PutPeopleFirst!
